[ Post-Growth ]
For my first unit of second year, I was asked to imagine:
‘In a world without fossil fuels, you are asked to reconsider your assigned object and imagine a society that has moved beyond the current economic growth paradigm towards a more desirable future’
This was an incredibly interesting brief, that not only provoked me to critically think about manufactured materials- such as steel and the harm it has on the environment, but how i can use my skills to design and encourage others to produce and consume materials sustainably.
What is an alternative material and how would i design a brand it?
Common Ground is a community led, mycelium-based materials brand. Using living fungi to mould and design as an alternative material to Steel/Screws. Creating low-impact, high-performance kit bags that decompose naturally at the end of their life cycle.
My aim throughout this project was to experiment and adapt using the research i encountered.
