[ Zero Project ]
After researching the Zero Waste Project, and seeing for myself how bad the issue of coastal pollution is, i planned to create a compelling sculpture and place it on my local beach, by the pier. This sculpture will be fabricated from discarded plastic and biodegradable waste found polluting our shores, specifically highlighting materials like plastic bottles that take up to 200-500 year to biodegrade and tin cans up to 10 years. The Zero project has taken place across the UK and EU, however, not yet highlighted the issues o coastal pollution on beaches across the UK.
Initially, I planned to enhance the current branding of The Zero Waste Project by creating a sculpture shaped as the number 0 out of rubbish i had found on Bournemouth and Southbourne beach whilst litter picking with family. This represents the ZWE movement, highlighting an issue they have not yet mentioned. I also thought of developing social media presence by creating a QR code linked to their website, strengthening their digital and physical reach to younger generations
around the world.
This is an ongoing project.
